My Award-Winning Chili Recipe!
This is the chili recipe that won me first prize at the county fair three years in a row! It's a family secret, but the World Wide Web seems like a nice place, so I'm sharing it with all of you. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 2 (15 oz) cans of kidney beans, drained
- 1 (28 oz) can of diced tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz) can of tomato sauce
- 3 tbsp chili powder (the secret is to use more than you think!)
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef with the onion and green pepper. Drain the fat.
- Stir in all other ingredients.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the better it gets!
- Serve with cheese and crackers.
